Pre Race Info
The Athlete Information Guide has collated everything you need to know to have an epic experience at the 2023 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon. Whether you're a newbie, Roadster, or seasoned pro, we highly recommend having a read!
You must attend Athlete Check-in to collect your race number & official gear bag. Please remember to bring a copy of your registration confirmation QR code. No race bibs will be sent out, however someone else can collect your race pack on your behalf.
After Check-in you will also get the opportunity to check-out our Sports Expo, a major feature of your event weekend, and will include a large ASICS footwear and fashion selection and other sports and health exhibitors. Everyone is welcome!
The expo will also feature our friendly Info Desk ambassadors, here to help with comprehensive race day information, course maps, shuttle bus timetables and road closures.
Parking in the area is limited. It is recommended you use public transport.
Friday 27 October, 8:00am - 7:00pm

MARATHON / HALF MARATHON START LINE
Due to traffic congestion on the North Shore from participants accessing the start line in Devonport, we strongly recommend that you consider utilising the pre-race charter services of the ferry or bus to get to the Marathon and Half Marathon start. Athletes in the Marathon are encouraged to park at the AT Downtown or Britomart carparks if catching the ferry. Half Marathon athletes are strongly encouraged to make use of the special early train services included in your event registration to get to the Downtown Ferry Terminal - see here for details. Should you choose to use your own vehicle to get to the start line, please allow plenty of time, and remember there is minimal public parking for participants in Devonport.
11KM START LINE
Due to traffic congestion around Smales Farm from road closures for the Marathon and Half Marathon course, we strongly recommend that you utilise the pre-race bus charter services to get to the 11km Traverse start. To make getting to these charter bus departure points easier, AT public transport services are included in your event registration - see here for details. Should you choose to use your own vehicle to get to the start, please allow plenty of time and note that there is very limited parking available at the 11km Traverse start line and surrounding areas - parking within Smales Farm is a gold coin donation to Harbour Hospice. A drop-off zone at Smales Farm is accessible when travelling from Northcote Road.
5KM & KIDS MARATHON START LINES
Due to traffic congestion around the city, we strongly recommend that you consider utilising the AT public transport services included in your event registration - see here for details. The start lines for both the 5km and Kids Marathon is a short walk from Britomart Train Station. Should you choose to use your own vehicle to get to the start lines, we recommend using the AT Downtown or Britomart carparks - please allow plenty of time.
