Pre Race Info
Athlete Check-in is compulsory for all participants. You will need to provide Photo ID (preferably a drivers licence or passport) to collect your race number, timing chip and race pack. Someone else can collect your race pack on you behalf if they have a copy of your photo ID and confirmation email.
After Check-in you will also get the opportunity to peruse our Sports Expo, a major feature of your event weekend, and will include a large ASICS footwear and fashion selection and other sports and health exhibitors. It’s free admission, so bring your friends and family!
The expo will also feature our friendly Info Desk ambassadors, here to help with comprehensive race day information, course maps, shuttle bus timetables and road closures.

Race Day Check
- Your race number (and pins to attach it)
- Your transport tickets if you have booked on the event ferry or bus shuttle services
- Official Gear bag for bag drop with bag tag on it
- Weather appropriate clothing, plus sunscreen and cap.
There will be no replacement numbers or timing chips available at the race start areas. Please ensure you have completed the back of your race number with your name, any medical conditions and a contact name and phone number (other than your own) in case of emergency.
Please pin your race number to the front of your t-shirt or running vest and make sure it is clearly visible. You must not use someone else’s number, nor let someone else use yours. Marshals will remove you from the race before you cross the finish line.
Your race number carries your disposable timing chip which is your unique timing device for the race. You must wear your race number to be classified as a starter and a finisher of the race and have your time recorded. Timing chips do not need to be returned.
MARATHON / HALF MARATHON START LINE
Due to traffic congestion on the North Shore from participants accessing the start line in Devonport, we strongly recommend that you consider utilising the pre-race services of the Ferry or Bus to get to the Marathon and Half Marathon start. Athletes are encouraged to park at the AT Downtown or Britomart carparks, or make use of public transport if catching the ferry. Should you choose to use your own vehicle to get to the start line, please allow plenty of time, and remember there is minimal public parking for participants in Devonport.
11KM START LINE
Due to traffic congestion around Smales Farm area due to road closures for the Full and Half Marathon course, we strongly recommend that you utilise the pre-race bus service to get to the John West 11km Traverse start. Should you choose to use your own vehicle to get to the start, please allow plenty of time, and remember that access to Smales Farm is only possible travelling eastbound on Northcote Road. Smales Farm will have all-day car parking (gold coin donation required) for those wanting to use their private cars.
5KM START LINE
There is no pre-race transport to the start line Karanga Plaza, Wynyard Quarter. Athletes are encouraged to drive and park at the AT Downtown Carpark, or make use of public transport.
KIDS MARATHON START LINE
Due to the road closures around the 5km and Kids Marathon start lines, there is NO PARKING at the start line and surrounding streets. Please do not drive into this area as these roads are closed. Parking can be found at the Victoria Park Market end of Victoria Park and surrounding streets (subject to availability). Please allow yourself plenty of time to park away from the no parking zone and walk to the start line.
Parking is available at various downtown car parks or surrounding streets that do not have parking restrictions in place. Road closure and parking restriction information will be available on the website in October.
