|Minimum Age||Must be 10+ years of age on race day to compete. All participants between the age of 10 - 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the event and the accompanying adult takes full responsibility for the safety of the entrant 12 years or under. Participants over the age of 12 can complete the event without an adult accompanying them.|
|Cut-off time||It is a requirement that the Auckland Harbour Bridge be fully open for traffic from 11:00am. 12km Traverse participants wishing to ensure they the make the Bridge by cut-off time should have cleared the Onewa Road Southbound on-ramp (4km) by 9:50am.
Any participant still on the Auckland Harbour Bridge at 10:10am will be transported across the bridge to Sarsfield Street to continue the event. A minimum of a brisk walk is required as a strict cut-off time to reach the Onewa Interchange before the Harbour Bridge will apply.
|Timing Results||Timing results will be provided by age group category. The 12km Traverse age group categories are as follows for men and women; 14-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years, 75+ years|
|Prizes||All 12km Traverse finishers will receive a finisher’s medal. Spot prizes will also be awarded at random on the day.|
|Walkers||Walkers are welcome to enter the 12km Traverse and will be issued a specific walkers race bib. The walking category is for participants who intend to walk the entire course and compete against other ‘walkers’. If you intend to run even one step on the course please register as a ‘runner’.
Please ensure walkers start at the back behind the runners and keep to the left at all times.
The John West 12km Traverse course runs from Smales Farm Bus Stations on Auckland's North Shore, along the Busway southbound to the Auckland Harbour Bridge. After crossing the Bridge, the course takes in Westhaven Marina, the Tank Farm and Viaduct Harbour before turning onto Fanshawe Street for a finish at Victoria Park. The course is best described as "rolling".

Please note - the busway and motorway section is only available to runners on race day. It is illegal to be on these sections of the course at any other time.
