I need to withdraw, what are my options?
You can view our Entry Policies here to see if you are entitled to a refund. Alternatively, you may be able to transfer your entry to someone else. Unfortunately, we do not have a deferral system for this event. Important: Please do not ask for an exception. Our refund and transfer policy is clearly stated and applied evenly, without exception. 

Is it possible to change my event distance?
Yes, you can do this from your MyEvents account – subject to availability in that distance. See our Entry Policies here for further details.

How do I transfer my entry to someone else?
To transfer an entry to someone else, the initial registrant must log in to their MyEvents account, select Transfer Registration and follow the necessary steps. Please note: the receiving athlete will be sent a link to complete the registration and will need to pay for the entry(at the current entry price) in order for the transfer to process, then the original athlete will be refunded their entry fee less the $27NZD including all fees and taxes transfer fee.

I forgot to add transport when entering for the event. Is it possible to add this now?
You can purchase event transport from your MyEvents account, by clicking on ‘Add Additional Purchases’.

I cannot remember if I have purchased transport. How can I check this?
A receipt will have been emailed to you after the purchase was made. You can also view your receipt/s by logging in to your MyEvents account, clicking on ‘Registration & QR Code’ and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Athlete Check-in

I can’t make Athlete Check-in, can someone else collect my race pack for me?
Yes, someone else can collect your race pack on your behalf, provided they have a copy of your photo ID and confirmation email. Unfortunately, we cannot post race packs to you.

Do I need to collect my transport ticket?
If you purchased your transport before the Thursday of event-week then your ticket will be printed onto your race bib. If you purchased transport after this date, then you will need to collect your ticket from the transport desk at Athlete Check-in.


Is merchandise sent out prior to the event?
No, all pre-purchased merchandise is collected from the merchandise area of the Sports Expo. 

How do I get my medal engraved?
You can pre-purchase a medal engraving tab during the registration process or at a later date from your MyEvents account. This tab will be engraved with your name and race time, and will be posted to you within 3 weeks following the event.

When will I receive my certificate?
If you have pre-purchased the certificate, this will be mailed to the address given on your registration within 4 weeks of the event. You can change the address on your registration by logging in to your MyEvents account – however this must be done pre-event in order to receive your certificate at the new address.

Race Day

How do I get to the start line?
We provide chartered event transport for the full marathon, half marathon and 11km – see here for details and how transport can be purchased. Unfortunately AT Hop cards cannot be used on these services. It is possible to be dropped off at the start lines, however due to the road closures in place, it is not recommended. For 5km or Kids Marathon participants we recommend making use of public transport or driving. See here for details on parking options in the CBD and start lines.

What time does the race start?
There are different start times for each distance. View the full event schedule here.

What can I do with extra clothing at the start line?
There will be a bag drop service available at the start area of each race, except the Kids Marathon. Only official gear bags (given at Athlete Check-in) can be used and must be accompanied by the bag tag sticker. Your bag will be transported to the finish line for you to collect. Am I allowed to use headphones on the course?
We do not encourage you to wear headphones as you need to be able to hear instructions for course marshals and other event staff.

Is there a prize giving?
There will be prizes for the first 3 runners in each age group category in the full marathon, half marathon, and Kids Marathon. Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 male and female runners overall in the 11km and 5km. All prizes must be collected from the Information Tent from 11:00am.

Volunteers are what make an event, and each and every athlete hugely appreciates the amazing work done by our volunteer crew!

We will need heaps of awesome, helpful, energetic, friendly volunteers to be a part of the event too and add to the event experience for everyone. Dates required range from Tuesday 26 October to Sunday 31 October 2021.

Our volunteer roles vary from pre-event setup, to race day support and post-event pack down.

Volunteer Crew Roles


Registration Assistant

Assisting with set-up and running of athlete registration. This could include directing athletes, race number collection, transponder (timing device) checking, race bag pick up. This role is based in the The Cloud.

Site & Branding Assistant

Assisting the branding manager with pre, during and post event infrastructure build and also with sorting and installation of branding & signage. These are active & physical roles.

Info Desk Assistant

The info desk is the initial face of the event for all athletes, volunteers and public. We need friendly people, who enjoy meeting and helping people to ensure they have an awesome event experience.

Bag Drop Collection Assistant

Assisting with the organisation and distribution of the athletes bags back to their owners. A great role if you want to work with your friends.

Start Line Assistant

Either pre-event or race day roles. This involves all aspects of set up of each of the three start line infrastructures, branding and signage. This is physical active work. On race day, it's an early start for a very important role, working in a team at one of the three start lines (Half/Full, 11km or 5km). Roles include assisting with final set-up, signage, info desk, athlete bag drop and pack down. A great role if you have a group of friends, and all want to be in the same place. 


Finish Line & Recovery Assistant

Assisting athletes as they come through the finish, presenting their medal, handing out water and providing support to the athletes.

Aid Station Crew

Based at one of the eleven aid stations on course, you'll be working as a team of volunteers to provide hydration to runners. We suggest you pick a location near to your home for easy transport access. Great role if you have a group of friends and all want to be in the same place.

Course Marshal

Assisting athletes with directions and encouragement on course, keep public safe, provide event information and assist with limiting public being on the course. We suggest you pick a location near to your home for easy transport access. A great role if you want to see the action out on course.

Traffic Marshal

Race day role. You need to be confident supporting our traffic management staff with directing athletes through an intersection/across a road and may involve assisting with holding traffic as they pass.

Happy with Anything

You're keen to be involved and are happy to go wherever we need you most. Thank you for your flexibility.
