11km Traverse Sold Out
The 11km Traverse has officially sold out with just over a week left to go until the 2024 Auckland Marathon.
New Zealand’s biggest and most iconic festival of running has proved more popular than ever this year, with nearly 16,000 participants already registered across the five distances on offer at the event.
Alongside the maximum capacity runners in the 11km Traverse, the Auckland Marathon has also seen the highest number of registered marathoners for more than 10 years, while overall event registrations are already at their highest since 2014.
Auckland Marathon Regional Director Amy MacCormack says she is delighted to see the event, now in its 33rd year of running, continue to go from strength to strength.
“We can’t wait to welcome back thousands of athletes on Sunday 3 November for the 2024 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon presented by ASICS. The support the event has received from our athletes, volunteers, stakeholders, and the local community this year has been incredible and to sell out the One New Zealand 11km Traverse is the icing on the cake,” said MacCormack.
“Across New Zealand and further afield we have seen the popularity of running explode, especially amongst a younger demographic, as people look to healthy and inexpensive ways to keep fit and socialise,” she said. “It’s amazing to see thousands of people keen to challenge themselves across one of the five distances on offer at the Auckland Marathon and know that they’ll love doing just that as they take to the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau next weekend and enjoy the best views the city has to offer.”
