Course Summary

Both the marathon and half marathon races within the Barfoot & Thompson Wheelchair Division start in Devonport on Auckland's North Shore. The courses pass through Takapuna to the Smales Farm Bus Station where it joins the Busway southbound to the Auckland Harbour Bridge. After crossing the bridge, the course takes in Westhaven Marina and Wynyard Quarter, where half marathon athletes will continue straight to the finish line at Victoria Park and marathon athletes will turn left towards Viaduct Harbour (the halfway mark). From here, the marathon course continues is an out and back along Auckland City's waterfront, with the turn point being in St Helier's Bay. The return leg follows the same course back to the Viaduct Harbour for a finish at Victoria Park. The first half of the marathon course is best described as "rolling" while the second half, other than two small road bridges, is flat.
