Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon presented by ASICS Just One Month Away
The countdown is on with just one month to go until New Zealand’s biggest and most iconic marathon event returns to the streets of Auckland on Sunday 3 November 2024.
The Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon presented by ASICS will see thousands of runners take on one of five distances, with the Barfoot & Thompson Marathon and Wheelchair Marathon, Garmin Half Marathon, One New Zealand 11km Traverse, United Airlines 5km, and Barfoot & Thompson Kids Marathon (2.2km) all on offer.
The Auckland Marathon celebrates all that is great about New Zealand’s biggest city, guiding runners through the CBD, along the waterfront, and across the iconic Harbour Bridge. All athletes will complete their journey in Victoria Park, the Auckland Marathon’s vibrant finish line in the heart of the city.
With one month left until Auckland comes alive as a festival of running, Amy MacCormack, Regional Director of the Auckland Marathon, is encouraging runners of all abilities to get involved in the 33rd edition of the popular event.
“With today marking one month to go until the 2024 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon presented by ASICS it’s the perfect time to sign up and run the city in one of five distances,” said MacCormack. “With New Zealand experiencing a running boom, entries for this year’s event have been flying out the door – especially in the marathon distance – so you won’t want to miss out on the chance to join thousands of others on the start line on Sunday 3 November.”
The Auckland Marathon is open to people of all abilities, with people running, jogging, or walking their way to the finish line in Victoria Park.
“The Auckland Marathon has an electric atmosphere, with volunteers and spectators lining the streets and finish line to cheer on participants,” she said. “The courses take in the best highlights of the city, including the once-a-year opportunity to cross the Harbour Bridge on foot.
“We’re delighted to see so many Aucklanders and runners from across the country continue to embrace this event, taking to the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau each year to celebrate running and achieving personal goals alongside likeminded people,” said MacCormack. “The event also plays an important role for numerous charitable organisations, with Auckland Marathon runners aiming to raise over $600,000 for charities in need this year.”
