Running first marathon & running for good.
Richard Battison will be lining up on the start line of the ASB Auckland Marathon this year by chance, more than choice.
Meaning to register for the Barfoot & Thompson half marathon, Richard accidentally entered the marathon instead. Luckily, he had a brain wave before he tried to change his registration.
"I suddenly thought that people diagnosed with cancer don't have the luxury of just changing their diagnosis. Not only is the diagnosis tough, a time frame of remaining life may also be given. With courage, support, strength and determination, there are those who prove everyone wrong and beat the odds!"
So not only has Richard committed to running his first ever marathon next month, but he will also be raising money for the Cancer Society, one of our official charity partners.
