Transport Services
Overview
Race day nerves are all part of the package but getting to the start line doesn't have to be one of them. We recommend using the following transport services to get you to the start line and from the finish line, avoiding any delays.
There will be a number of road closures and parking restrictions in place on race-day, if you plan to utilise alternate services to the below, please consider this in your planning.

Early Train Service
Auckland Transport provide an early train service on race day, this service is included in your entry fee. To board, simply show your race bib to Auckland Transport staff.
Each service will arrive in Britomart by 5:30am, we do not recommend marathon athletes utilise this service at risk of missing your 6am start time.

Full Marathon
CITY CENTRE TO START LINE
Start line ferry
The chartered ferry service is a great option for anyone travelling from south of the Harbour Bridge, Birkenhead, or Bayswater to the full marathon start line in Devonport.
This is a chartered service and tickets (athlete & spectator) must be pre-purchased through your MyEvents account. AT Hop cards cannot be used for payment.
- Athlete one way ticket - $15.00
- Spectator return ticket - $28.00 (returns to downtown)

Getting to city centre
Auckland Transport services are not available earlier enough to arrive before 5:00am (time of last Ferry). Instead, we recommend to taxi, drive and use one of the city’s parking buildings, or ask an enthusiastic supporter to drop you off.
NORTH SHORE TO START LINE
Start line bus
Buses connect North Shore athletes to the full and half marathon start line in Devonport, removing the stress of finding a carpark at the start line!
This is a chartered service and tickets must be pre-purchased through your MyEvents account. AT Hop cards cannot be used for payment.
The three departure locations are:
- Albany Park & Ride - $13.00
- Constellation Park & Ride - $12.00
- Takapuna (488 Lake Rd) - $11.00

Some regular AT services will be disrupted by the event. The Victoria Park bus stop located on Fanshawe St will be closed – please use the Victoria St West bus stop instead. Plan your journey in advance with AT Journey Planner (services will be updated 2-3 weeks out from the event).

The following train services will be available and INCLUDED in your entry fee. Outside of these, please taxi, or drive and use one of the city’s parking buildings. All other standard Auckland Transport services into downtown Auckland City are not available this early on race-day.

All special early services will arrive to Britomart before 5:30am. A full schedule, can be found above.

A bus service is available from three locations to the 11km Traverse start line at Smales Farm.
